Roma ‘Lock Players At Training Ground As Punishment’ After Match Draw.

Roma have taken the drastic measure of locking players at their training ground until Wednesday, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A giants threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Cagliari at the weekend and now boast just ONE win in their last seven league games.

Roma now sit in seventh with 21 points after just five wins from their 15 top-flight games – 22 points adrift of leaders Juventus.

Now, numerous reports in Italy claim the club has decided to keep its players locked in a “training retreat”.

The reports also state it is not to improve as a team, but purely a punitive measure.

Boss Eusebio Di Francesco is staring down the barrel of a gun after the latest setback – and he was clearly furious after the disappointing draw with Cagliari.

The 49-year-old said: “My team tried to kill the game off for 70 minutes and I get angry when I see some of the mistakes we make.

“When players make the wrong choice and go for goal instead of passing to a team-mate. That leads to situations like this.

“It’s absurd. I don’t even want to talk about tactics. We had some highly experienced players out there today who should never concede a goal like that.”

Di Francesco went on to say he has run out of options, culminating in the lock-in, saying: “We’ve used the carrot and the stick already this season.”
