The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday granted bail to the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in the sum of ₦500 million with two sureties.
Justice Emeka Nwite ordered Bello to produce two sureties, each required to submit an affidavit of means and own properties in Abuja. The court specified that the title documents for these properties would be verified by its Deputy Chief Registrar.
On Friday, Bello pleaded not guilty to the ₦80bn fraud allegations brought against him by the EFCC.
He faces a total of 19 charges related to alleged money laundering.
Kemi Pinheiro, counsel for the EFCC, withdrew a previous application to expedite the arraignment date, a request that Justice Nwite approved.
