President Tinubu announces new appointment amid ongoing hunger protests

President Bola Tinubu has named Dunoma Ahmed as the new permanent secretary for the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry announced on Thursday that Ahmed took over the position on July 23.

Ahmed replaces Ibrahim Lamuwa, who is facing accusations of sexual harassment from female colleagues. The ministry’s statement emphasized Ahmed’s credentials, noting his background and previous role as permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.

This change comes after Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi, an aide to Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, filed a complaint in June. Ajayi accused Lamuwa of inappropriate touching and repeated invitations to his hotel room.

A letter sent to President Tinubu last month from ministry staff suggested that Ajayi’s complaint wasn’t an isolated incident. The letter claimed such allegations had been consistent throughout Lamuwa’s public service career.

Minister Tuggar has asked Folasade Yemi-Esan, who heads the service of the federation, to address the situation appropriately.
