Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has debunked claims suggesting he plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his loyalty and continued commitment to the party

Speaking on Saturday during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Enugu, Mbah dismissed the speculation as unfounded.
“I am still in the PDP. As you can see, the flag behind me is that of the PDP,” he said.
While acknowledging internal challenges within the party, Mbah noted that the PDP should not be solely blamed for the broader issues plaguing the country. He expressed optimism that the party would surmount its present difficulties.
Addressing the topic of independent candidacy, the governor pointed out that the Nigerian Constitution does not recognize individuals contesting elections without a political platform.
“You must still do the politics; you cannot completely shield yourself from it,” he remarked.
Mbah reiterated his administration’s commitment to good governance, stressing that the people of Enugu State would ultimately decide whether to renew his mandate.
He also revealed that his main rival in the 2023 governorship race, Chijioke Edeoga, had returned to the PDP and is now working with his administration to move the state forward.
