In a move to boost morale and promote excellence within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, decorated Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aliyu Shaba and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sentome Obi, winners of the Police Officer of the Year Award for 2023 and 2024, respectively, with their new ranks
The brief but significant ceremony was held at the IGP Smart Conference Room, Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the recognition of the two officers reflects the Force’s continued commitment to rewarding professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service.
He reiterated that the Nigeria Police will remain steadfast in celebrating officers who distinguish themselves in the line of duty.
He further reaffirmed the standing directive of the Force Management that any officer who wins the Police Officer of the Year Award, receives the IGP Commendation, or secures a category award in two consecutive years, will be recommended to the Police Service Commission for accelerated promotion.
