It’s annoying. The public scrutinize and want to control us. If you make a mistake, they’d call your parents’ name — Actress Omotola’s Daughter Opens Up on Pressure Of Being A Nepo Child

Princess Ekeinde, first daughter of Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, has opened up about the hidden struggles of being a celebrity child, saying the pressure to uphold her family’s legacy and constant comparisons with her mother can be overwhelming.

Speaking on The Chat show, Princess acknowledged the privileges of growing up with a silver spoon but said people often overlook the challenges that come with being a nepo baby.

“Us, nepo babies. Yes, it is good that we were born with a silver spoon; trust me, we have our struggles. People don’t actually see the struggles we face,” she said.

She explained that, as the first child and first daughter, she feels responsible for representing her family positively, while people constantly compare her with her mother’s beauty, status and talent.

“It is so annoying cause I’m like, first of all, I am not Omotola; I am Princess. Let’s get this straight,” she said, questioning why people assume she wants to become an actress simply because her mother is one.

Princess also lamented how public scrutiny can make children of celebrities feel that people have control over their personal choices, including their careers, dressing and relationships.

She added that mistakes made by celebrity children are often used to judge their parents, creating pressure to protect their family’s reputation.

“If you make a mistake in Nigerian culture, they would not call your name, but your parents’ name, like, ‘That’s Omotola’s daughter or Otedola’s son,’” she said.
