Former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan will receive a state burial in Ghana on September 13.
This was made known earlier today by the Ghanaian president, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The announcement was made by President Nana Akufo-Addo following a meeting with Annan’s family. Annan, a Ghanaian national and Nobel peace laureate, died on Saturday at the age of 80 after a short illness.
Kofi Annan’s death is another loss of an icon, advocate and a voice. He was a Ghanian statesman who scaled heights in his lifetime.
In a time when the world and Africa are facing turbulent times and a myriad of problems, one can only hope that these words of wisdom from him will mean something to the living.
