A Nigerian man has stated that a person who commits suicide should not be mourned at all, instead they are to be thrown into an evil forest.
According to the man identified as Onyeozi Nwolisa, suicide is a taboo in Igbo tradition.
He stated this in reacted to the news of a RCCG pastor, Michael Arowobaiye, who committed suicide due to issues he was having with accommodation. The issues reportedly led him into depression forcing him to take his own life.
Sharing a photo of the RCCG minister who committed suicide in Abuja on Tuesday, May 14th, Nwolisa wrote stated that typing RIP for such a person as Michael is not right. He also warned people against causing calamity in their family.
He wrote:
“It is not right for you to type RIP for someone who commits suicide, in our tradition as an Igbo people we don’t mourn them, we threw them away in an evil Forest, what they commit is an abomination it is a taboo you don’t have right to take your life we consider it evil ,so be careful so as not to cause calamity in your family thank you all”
