Ademola Lookman has won the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, a prestigious honor recognizing his outstanding contributions to African football.
The Super Eagles winger, who plays for Atalanta in Serie A, was announced as the winner during the CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16, 2024. Lookman edged out strong competition following an exceptional season for both club and country.
During the 2023/24 season, Lookman scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 45 games across all competitions for Atalanta. He delivered a historic performance in the UEFA Europa League final, becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the final since 1975. His brilliance helped Atalanta clinch the title with a 4-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
In addition to this, Lookman was named in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season and played a key role in Nigeria’s qualification campaign for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
This award cements Lookman’s place among Africa’s football elite and highlights his remarkable contributions to the sport over the past year.
