Liverpool star Sadio Mane had to be helped off the pitch in tears after being booed by his own Senegal fans. Mane played for his country in their 1-0 African Cup of Nations qualifier victory against Equatorial Guinea.
According to reports, the Senegal fans were furious with the 26-year-old when he spurned a glorious chance to double his side’s lead.
He was booed for the rest of the game, and at the final whistle, he slumped to the ground inconsolable.
In tears, Mane was helped up from the turf by his team-mates.
But after covering his face with his shirt, the Liverpool ace fell back to the floor.
He was again helped to his feet, and eventually came off the pitch with his head buried in his jersey.
Senegal secured a 1-0 win thanks to Luis Meseguer’s own-goal for Equatorial Guinea.
Mane completed the full 90 minutes which helped Senegal consolidate their position at the top of Group A. They are set to progress as top seed with one final fixture against Madagascar left.
The 26-year old is set to return to Liverpool next week as the club prepares for their next fixture, an away match against Watford.
