All Of Us Are Dying; What Are You Doing About Your Brothers Producing Fake Products Everywhere?— Food Critic Opeyemi Famakin Accuses Igbos Of Leading Fake Product Trade In Nigeria

Food critic Opeyemi Famakin has called out the Igbo community over the alleged production and sale of counterfeit products in Nigeria, urging people to stop bringing tribalism into discussions about fake consumable goods.

In a video circulating online, Famakin claimed that Kano is Nigeria’s second-largest hub for counterfeit products before alleging that the largest hub is associated with Igbo people.

“I h@te to be that guy, but we know the tribe that does it,” he said, referring to the alleged production of f@ke products.

He argued that counterfeit goods pose a threat to Nigerians regardless of their ethnic backgrounds, warning that f@ke perfumes, drinks and alcoholic beverages could have serious health consequences.

“All of us are dy+ng from these fake products. The fake perfumes, fake drinks, fake alcohol that they are consuming. It’s not targeted at k+lling only the Yorubas and Hausas. All of you are d¥ing, you included,” Famakin said.

The food critic also accused some Igbos of allowing tribal sentiments to overshadow discussions about counterfeit products, asking, “Are you guys not tired of using tribalism, Igbo phobia?”

He further claimed that Igbos tend to be particularly sensitive to criticism about their ethnic group on social media, although he described them as the nicest people he had encountered in real life.

“In my own experience, I always, in podcasts, have said that the nicest tribe to me, in my own experience, are Igbo people,” he said.

“The people that are on kidney dialysis the most in Nigeria are Igbos,” he claimed, linking the assertion to his argument about the potential health consequences of consuming counterfeit products.

“Can they do better? Yes. But is NAFDAC working? Yes,” he said, adding that, based on what he had seen, counterfeit producers were working against the agency’s efforts.
