BREAKING: Anglican Church Suspends Archbishop Ibezim
The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has suspended the Bishop of Awka and Archbishop of the Niger Province, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, for six months.
In a directive, the Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, ordered Archbishop Ibezim to proceed on immediate leave pending investigation into allegations and recent developments in the Diocese of Awka.
He is barred from officiating in any church activities during this period.
While the official letter did not disclose details of the allegations or the visitation team’s report, sources say the Archbishop was accused of taking certain actions without authorization from the Church.
Meanwhile, the Bishop of Aguata, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, has been appointed as Supervising Bishop of Awka Diocese and Coordinating Bishop of the Province of the Niger.
