Buhari has began the processes that will lead to reform — Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo

 

The president of the Republic of Ghana, and the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has lent his voice to the #ENDSARS protest.

Nana Akufo Addo has been excoriated by the Ghanaian citizens over his silence on the innocent protesters being killed by the Nigerian Army. However, he has finally broken his silence as he bows to the pressure directed towards him as the President of Ghana and Chairman of ECOWAS.

In a Twitter post by the president, he states that he joins the well-meaning persons in calling for calm in Nigeria.

I join all well-meaning persons in calling for calm, and the use of dialogue in resolving the #EndSARS impasse in Nigeria”.

He adds that he has spoken to President Buhari of Nigeria under who’s watch this internal conflict is evolving and that Buhari has begun processes that will bring peace.

”I have spoken with President Buhari, who is committed to this end, and has begun the processes that will lead to reform.”

President Nana Akuffo Addo has, therefore,  extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.

“Violence, be it on the part of the Police or protesters, cannot be the solution. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my sincere condolences, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. #EndSARS“
