Nigeria was taken by surprise on Monday with reports of the sack of Emefiele, with many wondering why the government would take such a decision just barely a week after the Presidential Elections.
However, The Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN, has denied the report, with the spokesman of the apex bank, Isaac Okoroafor, saying that the governor was in his office carrying out his daily duties.

In a telephone chat, he said;

“I don’t understand what you mean…
as I speak to you, the CBN governor (Emefiele)
is in his office performing his duties”.
