Chewing Gum Used By Alex Ferguson During Final Match As Manchester United Boss Sells For £390,000

The chewing gum former Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson used in the 5-5 draw at West Brom in May 2013 – has been sold on eBay.

The final game that Ferguson ever managed for United was a thrilling 5-5 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns, and a fan in attendance that day happened to collect a very prized possession indeed.

The gum that ‘Fergie’ chewed on that evening was preserved for the perfect occasion by the fan, and has now finally sold it for a whopping £390,000!

The proceeds are to go to charity, but the bids came in left, right and center, highlighting just what an impact the Scotsman had on fans, players and legends of the game alike.

The bidding commenced on eBay and stated – “Used chewing gum: RARE. Recovered from The Hawthorns. Clear Perspex/wooden case. Unofficial merchandise, rumored to belong to Sir Alex. After 1,500 games of intense chewing as manager of Man Utd, here lies Fergie’s last piece of chewing gum. All proceeds go to the MU Foundation charity.”

The highest bidder will indeed end up with a piece of memorabilia that means a whole lot to anyone who has supported Manchester United while Ferguson was in charge.
