Undeterred, Albania struck early again in their second game against Croatia, this time in the 10th minute.

They held on to their lead until the second half, but Croatia snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with two goals in three minutes.

Just when all hope seemed lost, Albania equalized in stoppage time to secure a famous 2-2 draw, their fourth-ever point in a major tournament.

Qazim Laçi and Klaus Gjasula scored for Albania, with Gjasula also scoring an own goal.

The 34-year-old midfielder made history as the second player to score at both ends in one game and the first substitute to do so.

Armando Broja, who played 77 minutes in the first game, was surprisingly absent from the lineup despite Albania’s need for a goal.

The team will face Spain in their final group game, while Croatia takes on Italy.

All teams remain in contention for a spot in the knockout rounds, setting up a thrilling finale to the group stage.
