EFCC to prosecute NAF personnel for security breach

The anti-graft agency made this known on Monday in a release signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, and posted on its website.

Earlier, the NAF personnel were granted administrative bail last Friday.

“The officers were released to their service in strict adherence to the bail procedures of the commission. The commission reiterates the fact that no one is above the law and the due process will be followed in bringing the case to a conclusion,” Oyewale said.

The EFCC had disclosed that officers of the NAF were culpable of security breach.

It noted that the NAF officers were arrested over an attempt to rescue suspected fraudsters arrested by the agency.

Oyewale said, “Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Monday, November 13, 2023, arrested five suspects at a residential Inn and Disney Chicken Eatery, Barnawa, Kaduna following credible intelligence about their alleged internet- related fraud activities.

“The suspected fraudsters: Favour Itung, Rachael Ande, Zuleiman Haruna, Abubakar Ismaila and Solomon Olobatoke were arrested without incident.

“However, after the sting operation, six military personnel who witnessed the operation at Disney Chicken Eatery, stormed the Kaduna Command and attempted to forcibly release the arrested fraud suspects. They were subdued and detained over the security breach.
