Manchester United successfully appealed against Bruno Fernandes’ red card in Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham, avoiding a three-match suspension.
Fernandes, 30, was given a straight red card for fouling James Maddison in the 42nd minute at Old Trafford. United argued the decision was incorrect, and the appeal was upheld.
The Portuguese midfielder will now be available for upcoming Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Brentford, and West Ham.
Post-Match Reaction:
Fernandes expressed relief: “Never a red card… I agree it’s a foul, but not more than that. Maybe a yellow for counter-attack, but not red.”
United manager Erik ten Hag’s side faces Porto in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Villa on Sunday.
