Former Super Eagles coach Finidi George has taken the reins at Rivers United, a top-tier Nigerian football club, just three weeks after stepping down as national team coach.

The club announced Finidi’s appointment on Wednesday, with a formal unveiling scheduled for Thursday.
Finidi George brings a rich legacy in football, having played professionally for over 15 years and won numerous titles, including the Africa Cup of Nations, UEFA Champions League, and Nigeria Premier Football League.
As a coach, he has consistently led teams to victory, and Rivers United is confident that his expertise and passion will drive the club forward.
Finidi’s coaching career includes a successful stint at Enyimba International FC, where he won the NPFL title in 2023.
He takes over at Rivers United from Evans Ogenyi, who led the team last season.
