Ada Hegerberg has received a special gift on the back of her historic Ballon d’Or win – a very fancy pair of football boots. The Norway international striker, 23, who plays her club football with Lyon, became the first female winner of the coveted prize this month.

To celebrate the achievement PUMA gifted her some personalized gold PUMA ONE boots, which Hegerberg is planning to wear this weekend when Lyon take on Montpellier in the league.

Hegerberg tasted Ballon d’Or success for the first time in Paris a few weeks ago as Luka Modric scooped the male version of the award.

After taking home the top prize, Hegerberg, reflecting on her achievement, told The Guardian: “It was an amazing night for women in general and women who play football.

“I really want to say thank you to France Football for putting it in place, I know it’s 2018 and it’s been a long time coming, but at the same time it’s important to show what a big step forward this is for women’s football.”

“It was, and is, quite emotional to be honest.

“I try not to use the word proud too often but I was really proud, because I was in a position to promote women’s football and that’s what I’m passionate about.”
