Professor Amos Utuama, a former deputy governor of Delta State, has passed away.

Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as deputy governor to former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, and both held office for eight years under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He previously served as Delta State’s Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General during the administration of former Governor James Ibori.
While Utuama’s family has yet to officially confirm his passing, the renowned legal scholar made his mark as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, prior to his political career.
A native of Otughievwen (Otu-Jeremi) town in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Utuama had reportedly struggled with health issues and had been in and out of the hospital following the death of his beloved wife, Dr. Nelly Utuama.
