How I was hit by a stray bullet and nearly lost my life — Skitmaker BrodaShaggi finally breaks silence
Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi has recounted how he was hit by a stray bullet while filming at the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026. He shared the experience on his YouTube channel.
The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Animashaun Perry, said he heard a loud bang before realising he had been hit.
“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. It was just total silence in the car,” he recalled.
He said he touched his hip and saw blood, realising he had been hit by a stray bullet.
“I didn’t want to d+e. I just don’t want to d+e,” he said, explaining that surviving was all he could think about as he was rushed to the hospital.
According to him, the first hospital administered first aid before transferring him to another facility because it lacked the equipment to treat him. He said the second hospital admitted him to the emergency room.
Recalling his recovery, Broda Shaggi said he felt useless because he could no longer act, dance or sing.
“I feel very useless. While in the hospital, I could not act, I could not dance, sing or do whatever I loved,” he said, adding that he returned to writing content and began working on a YouTube series.
He said watching his colleagues’ videos sometimes made him laugh but also brought him to tears because he feared he might never return to his former life.
“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he said, revealing that he worried people might forget him.
Despite the ordeal, Broda Shaggi said he remained hopeful and believed God would never forsake him.
