Hugo Viana, currently at Sporting Lisbon, has been appointed to succeed Txiki Begiristain as Manchester City’s Director of Football.
Viana will begin transitioning into the role immediately and assume full responsibilities in summer 2025, replacing Begiristain after his 12-year tenure.
Begiristain joined Manchester City in 2012 and played a crucial role in convincing Pep Guardiola to join as manager in 2016.
Viana’s appointment follows Begiristain’s decision to step down at the end of the season, after Manchester City’s involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup.
