I broke up with Costumier HakeemEffect because he Said I Didn’t Need A Husband; that I should Remain His Sidechic While He Kept His Own Family — Ex-staff
An ex-staff has opened up about her past relationship with popular Nollywood makeup artist Hakeem Effect, alleging that their relationship became strained after she expressed her desire to settle down and get married.
Speaking during an interview, the ex-staff said her cousin introduced her to Hakeem Effect because she believed she was hardworking and could work with him.
“If I am counting my journey, I must mention Hakeem Effect. My cousin was the one that introduced me to Hakeem because my cousins believe I am very assiduous and can work, and she advised I meet with Hakeem so they can work together,” she said.
The ex-staff explained that Hakeem invited her to work with him in Port Harcourt. After completing the job, they travelled to Enugu and then Abia, where they gradually developed feelings for each other.
She said Hakeem admired her dedication to work, adding, “He always calls me treasure because I work a lot and I’m not lazy, and he will say, ‘If you are with me, I am always satisfied.’”
Asked what caused their breakup, the ex-staff said the disagreement began when she wanted to settle down and get married.
“What caused our fight was when I feel like I want to settle down and marry, Hakeem declined that he doesn’t want me to settle down,” she revealed.
According to her, Hakeem told her she behaved like a man because of her hardworking and independent nature, adding that she did not need to find a husband.
The ex-staff described his position as selfish, alleging that he wanted her to remain by his side while he maintained his own family with his wife and children.
Asked whether his refusal to let her marry led to their separation, she replied: “Yes, because he doesn’t want me to marry and have my own family.”
