I helped her career when no one wanted to work with her; I used to support her financially when she was ugly and fat — Actress Laide Bakare drags colleague Eniola Badmus as their drama rages on
Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has recalled how she financially supported her colleague, Eniola Badmus, when she struggled to get movie roles because of her appearance.
Speaking about her willingness to help others, Laide described herself as an outspoken person who does not hide her actions, saying, “I am a very open and straightforward person. That’s why I do things without hiding anything. I speak my mind freely.”
She also explained that she uses her personal money to support people, recalling how she stood by Eniola when things were difficult for her in the movie industry.
Laide said, “I used to give Eniola Badmus money very well when she was ¥gly and f@t. I used to help her with money when nobody wanted to use her in their movies cos of her stature.”
The actress also addressed the criticism she faced over a past public reaction, explaining that people had misunderstood her actions and taken them out of context.
She further recalled how difficult it was to produce movies at the time, claiming that people were unwilling to participate in her projects, making it challenging to bring them to life.
According to her, people often judge situations without understanding the circumstances behind them, while disagreements within the entertainment industry frequently become public.
Laide added that Nigeria’s economic hardship remains a major concern, stating, “The world is better now, though hunger is the real problem not lies, if we look at it properly.”
