Ifeanyi Ubah declares intention to contest Anambra governorship election; says he needs only a single term to transform the state

Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, has indicated interest in contesting the state’s governorship position in 2025

Ubah, stated this in a chat with journalists in his Nnewi country home.

He said: “I repeat, I will do a single term in office if I win the election. I don’t need more than four years to develop the state. I don’t need four years to implement some of the plans I have. A singular tenure of four years is my commitment to the Anambra people. I will give them quality, robust, and direction-driven leadership.

“I will shrink the current and past government into 20 per cent; 80 per cent of the content I intend to bring in Anambra has not been discussed before. In four months of being elected, I intend to conduct local government elections and they will stay for four years. This will shed the weight of governance off the governor, and the 21 local governments will run on their own and development will be simultaneous.”

Ubah insisted that he would do things differently. “I know you will say that others have made such promises, but this is my commitment to the people that I will do a single term. I’m different from those who have given this promise before. My people know me as one who sticks to his word. I will have a resounding engagement with stakeholders meeting, and some of them will be written and others verbal,” he stated.
