Members of the al-Barnawi-controlled Islamic State West African Province (SWAP) have reportedly executed one of the six aide workers abducted in Damasak, Borno state in July this year. The aide workers were in a convoy that was attacked by the sect members. The driver of their own vehicle was killed while the workers were abducted.
Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who shared the sad news of the execution online, said the sect members sent him a video showing the moment the male aide worker was shot dead at close range.
In his tweet, SalkidaĀ said the sect members based their decision to execute the aide worker on the fact that “the government deceived them” following months of what is now known as secret negotiations between a team of intermediaries and unnamed officials.
The Nigerian Army is yet to react to this new development.
