Akon’s longtime partner Tomeka Thiam has officially filed for divorce, bringing an end to their decades-long marriage
Court documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop reveal that Tomeka — who says she and Akon wed on September 15, 1996 — cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Akon has often been vague about how many wives he has, but Tomeka confirmed in the filing that she shares a 17-year-old child with the musician.
She is requesting joint legal custody but wants physical custody of the child. Tomeka is also seeking spousal support while asking the court to prevent any spousal support from being awarded to Akon.
Attempts to get a response from Akon have so far been unsuccessful.
