Korede Bello expresses concern over decline in music quality

Korede Bello has shared his thoughts on the current state of the music industry during an appearance on Hip TV’s “Trending” program hosted by Kim Oprah.

He expressed his opinion that the influx of new artists has led to a decrease in the quality of music being produced.

According to Korede Bello, younger artists often lack the life experiences and depth that veteran artists bring to their craft, resulting in a focus on superficial themes.

He emphasized that this is not a criticism of new artists, but rather a reflection of their limited perspective and experiences.

He highlighted the contrast between the meaningful, reality-based lyrics of established artists like African China, Timaya, and Fela, and the more shallow content often produced by newer artists.

“When you start to have young artistes blowing up, the quality of the music starts to reduce because they don’t have quality experiences.

“They don’t know how to live yet. Young people don’t yet know how to live, they just know that they are living. They want to live large, so that’s what they’re going to sing about.

“If you listen to an African China, where he’s coming from, he has seen things. Timaya, Fela—all have experiences. Their songs are expressions of reality.

“We should not blame these young artists; you can only give what you have.”
