Lagos Announces Resumption Date For Public, Private Schools

The Lagos Ministry of Education has released the approved harmonised school calendar for the year 2022/2023 academic year.

Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, the director-general of the Office of Education Quality Assurance said in a statement on Thursday urged public and private schools in the state to follow the harmonised calendar.

Ms Seriki-Ayeni said schools below the tertiary level would resume the 2022/2023 academic session’s first term on September 5 and would vacate on December 16.

She explained that the 2022/2023 academic calendar encompassed flexibility in schools and prioritised harmonised instructional days of learning to ensure that students spent productive learning hours in the classrooms.

According to the Lagos government, there is the need for schools to maintain a minimum of 180 learning days.

Ms Seriki-Ayeni urged all schools to adhere strictly to the approved calendar for the delivery of quality and sustainable education.
