Voting in Ekiti state commenced early with the arrival of voting materials and INEC officials, smooth working of most Card Readers, peaceful conduct of electorates and civil conduct of the security agents.
Voting commenced early in most areas. Starting from the Central in Ado-Ekiti to the North where our correspondent monitored in Ayegbaju town, Ekiti North Senatorial District, voting was peaceful.
In Oye Ekiti, Senator Ayo Arise of the All Progressives Congress Congress who voted in Irare Ward, Unit one assessed the situation as generally good with large turnout.
In Ayede Ekiti, a party chieftain in the town Dr Olusegun Osinkolu, gave kudos to the security arrangement despite massive deployment and large turnout of electorates.
He said the turnout of electorates who neither belong to any party was an indication that the youths have realised that their future depended on it.
In Isan Ekiti, the APC candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi cast his vote at exactly 9.21pm in a very serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Fayemi who cast his votes at Unit 009 commended the electorates for their comportment and the security personnel for maintaining law and order
Voting also went well in ikosu Ekiti Moba local government, Akinlayo Kolawole, a party leader and others who spoke to Voice of Nigeria also gave pass mark to voters turnout and marvelous security arrangement.
Reports from Central and South Senatorial Districts indicated that no major hitch or violence was recorded.
