
32-year-old Julius Oliseh stabbed 23-year-old Isikilu Shittu to death, following a quarrel that ensued between them at the burial ceremony. He was arrested by 2pm after a complaint was lodged at Mowe Police Station by the victim’s brother, Akeem Shittu.
In his statement at the Police Statement, the deceased’s brother alleged that the suspected killer broke a bottle during the argument, stabbed the victim on the neck, and he died on the spot. He further disclosed that he was present at the burial ceremony with the brother in Ogunru Village, when an argument ensued between the suspect and the deceased over an undisclosed matter.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the victim’s body has been deposited at the general hospital morgue for autopsy.
“Upon the report, the DPO Mowe Division, CSP Francis Ebhuoma, led his men to the scene where the suspect who has been struggling to escape was promptly arrested and taken to the station for interrogation,” Oyeyemi revealed in a statement.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Iliyasu has also ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution.
This is coming few months after it was reported that 43-year-old man identified as Dupe Idahor, was killed by unknown gunmen at the burial ceremony of his mother, Deaconess Taiwo Albert. The tragedy occurred at No. 2, 4th Nosayaba Lane, off Nosayaba Street, off TV Road, Benin City, around 9:00 p.m.
He was said to be under a canopy with friends and relatives, when the gunmen arrived in a car and opened fire on him.
