Measles was eradicated in the US in 2000, but recent outbreaks among undervaccinated communities have jeopardized this achievement. The CDC emphas izes the importance of vaccination, especially for close-knit and under-vaccinated groups, to prevent further spread.
Most cases (96%) were imported from international travel, underscoring the need for robust vaccination coverage. Despite well-performing surveillance systems, misinformation about vaccines poses a threat to public health efforts.
