Mele Kyari, CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), marked his 60th birthday on January 8, 2025, with heartfelt reflections on his life and career.
He expressed gratitude for his remarkable journey from an Almajiri (Tsangaya) pupil to leading Africa’s largest energy company.
Kyari thanked former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu for the opportunities to serve as NNPC’s last Group Managing Director and the first CEO of NNPC Ltd. He acknowledged the trials and triumphs that shaped his path, crediting his achievements to the support of family, mentors, and colleagues.
In his message, Kyari emphasized the values of perseverance and gratitude, pledged to serve with greater purpose, and sought forgiveness for any unintentional harm caused. He also praised his family’s sacrifices, recognizing their crucial role in his success despite his demanding career.
