Both keepers made some brilliant saves throughout, but in the end, Barovero was beaten again as the substitute Firmino latched onto Alexander-Arnold’s cross in stoppage time to win the game for Liverpool.
That dramatic win for Liverpool means they have reached their second Club World Cup final and will face Flamengo on Saturday.
Monterrey played well throughout but missed out at the last moment and will be facing Al-Hilal in the third-place play-off.
