The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused his ‘haters’ of benefiting from the infrastructure projects executed under his administration while continuing to oppose him
Wike made the comments on Friday while flagging off the construction of the Transit Way, N2, which connects the Central Area to Wuse District and includes two new bridges.

He said, “I told you that when you are doing your work, people may hate you. All those who hate us are using the road, all those who hate us will use the water, they will use the street light. So it’s an opportunity to improvise for them. You don’t need to worry yourselves. They are just looking for an opportunity to come closer to us, and because we are very strict, the only way they can come closer is to blackmail us; unfortunately, we don’t know the meaning. There is no blackmail in our dictionary. The only thing we know is to work to the satisfaction of our people.”
The minister also threatened to redeploy the FCT Mandate Secretary on Security, criticizing his failure to provide updates on the construction of 12 police stations across the capital.
“Director of Security, we have built not less than 12 police stations and up till now, you have not come to tell me how many are ready. The day I go and find out, that is the day that you will go to the Institute of Policy Studies so that another person can do the job. Being director is not about wearing Agbada and a black cap. Your assignment is to ensure the police stations are handed over to improve security,” Wike warned.
He added that the flag-off of ongoing projects will continue until October 20, with plans to commission other key projects in November aimed at boosting the FCT economy and enhancing its landscape.
