Nigeria’s national electricity grid has suffered its second collapse in just 24 hours, plunging millions into darkness.

Electricity distribution companies (DisCos), including Eko and Kaduna, confirmed the collapse, which occurred at 9:17 am on Tuesday.

“We are currently working with our partners to ensure a speedy restoration of the grid,” EKEDC stated.

Kaduna DisCo apologized for the inconvenience, attributing the outage to the national grid collapse at 6:05 pm on Monday.

Meanwhile, Abuja Disco announced a scheduled maintenance exercise on Wednesday, October 16, affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) had earlier reported a general system collapse at 6:48 pm on Monday, impacting Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

The repeated grid failures highlight Nigeria’s ongoing electricity infrastructure challenges and the need for urgent solutions to address persistent power outages.
