A new born baby has been saved after hours of rescue by a joint emergency team.
According to reports, pedestrians heard the infant’s cries emitting from a sewage manhole on the sidewalk in Durban, South Africa.
A rescue operation was conducted whereby the new born baby girl, with placenta attached was rescued.
A 2m trench was excavated. Once the walls of the trench were shored, the storm water pipe was cut from where the new born baby was pulled out and rescued.
Paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the new born before being flown by AMS helicopter to the hospital.
