Veteran actor Olaiya Igwe, has shared why he declined gospel singer Tope Alabi’s request to use his prized Mercedes-Benz for her wedding years ago
Olaiya Igwe explained that the decision was driven by fear rather than ill will. He had recently purchased the car, customized with “Ololade Mr Money 1,” following the success of one of his films.
However, just before Tope’s request, the car had been stolen in Ibadan while he was promoting a movie. Although it was recovered, the incident left him traumatized.
As a result, Olaiya Igwe avoided Tope’s calls on the eve of her wedding, fearing something would happen to the car if he lent it to her. He has since sought her forgiveness, stating that guilt over his decision still lingers.
It’s worth noting that Tope Alabi has moved on to greater milestones, including receiving a Lexus SUV from her husband on her 55th birthday.
