The Ondo State government has partnered with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc to supply meters to one million households across the state.
The initiative, known as the O’Datiwa Meters Initiative, was finalized during a meeting between the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Transition Committee, led by chairman Olatunji Ariyomo, and senior management from BEDC, headed by Managing Director/CEO Deolu Ijose.
Ariyomo announced that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected to kick off the meter distribution by the end of this month.
The governor’s meter intervention aims to eliminate the practice of estimated billing in the state.
