Osama Bin Laden’s Son, Hamza Bin Laden, has reportedly married the daughter of Mohammed Atta, the lead hijacker in the 9/11 terror attacks, according to his family.
Osama bin Laden’s half-brothers confirmed the union in an interview with Guardian. Speaking to the press for the first time, Osama bin Laden’s siblings told the Guardian that Hamza bin Laden, who is believed to now hold a senior position in Al-Qaeda, had married Mohammad Atta’s daughter.
“We have heard he has married the daughter of Mohammed Atta,” said half-brother Ahmad al-Attas. “We’re not sure where he is, but it could be Afghanistan.”
Atta was one of the ringleaders of the 9/11 attacks and flew the plane into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Osama Bin Laden’s son, Hamza bin Laden, 29, was declared a “global terrorist” by the US last year after joining up with current al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
He has publicly called on followers to wage war on Western targets, including Tel Aviv, according to the Guardian report. In the first part of the interview, published Friday, Osama bin Laden’s family, including his mother, discussed their relationships with the man who became the world’s most wanted terrorist, as well as their fear that Hamza aims to emulate him.
“We thought everyone was over this,” bin Laden’s half-brother Hassan al-Attas told the Guardian. “Then the next thing I knew, Hamza was saying, ‘I am going to avenge my father.’ I don’t want to go through that again. If Hamza was in front of me now, I would tell him, ‘God guide you. Think twice about what you are doing. Don’t retake the steps of your father. You are entering horrible parts of your soul.’”
Osama bin Laden, a founder of al-Qaeda, masterminded the September 11, 2001, attacks that killed more than 3,000 Americans. He was killed by US special forces in Pakistan in 2011.
