Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Christian Life Ministry, has strongly condemned the practice of financial exploitation in churches.
He urged fellow clergymen to stop taking advantage of their members under the pretense of “sowing seeds” for financial prosperity.
Kumuyi emphasized that true ministry involves providing solutions to people’s needs, not exploiting their vulnerability. He cited biblical examples of Elijah and Elisha, who helped the poor and vulnerable.
“The preachers of today are getting richer at the expense of their members,” Kumuyi said. “We must speak out against this. Where are those who gave everything to prophets? How are their children doing?”
Kumuyi challenged fellow clergy to prioritize helping the vulnerable, rather than accumulating wealth.
“Let us add value to people’s lives, raise them up, and provide supernatural supply to those in need,” he urged.
