POLICE ARREST GUNMAN AT POPULAR HOTEL IN AWKA
Operatives of Anambra State Police Command have arrested a lone gunman at a popular hotel (name withheld) in Awka, the Capital of Anambra State.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of Anambra Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu he noted that surveillance Operatives who observed the man prowling around the premises on 20th July, 2023 accosted and conducted a search on him.
During the search, One English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
The suspect who gave his name as Akuchieani Echezona, a male resident of Ifite Awka, was disarmed, arrested and taken into custody.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has equally ordered State CID Awka to take over the case and investigate source of the weapon as well as the gunman’s intention for going armed to the hotel.
DSP Ikenga Tochukwu concluded that the suspect will be arraigned in court at conclusion of investigation.
