The Police Force has issued a statement on Saturday regarding the unauthorized use of its official uniforms by VeryDarkMan.
Earlier, VDM generated attention with a video in which he introduced himself as Policeman for the online division.
He was seen wearing an outfit resembling the Nigerian Police uniform and cautioned viewers against calling him an activist.
In his video, VDM stated his commitment to addressing issues in the social media space and targeting online vendors.
In response, the Police Force disassociated itself from his representation, announcing an investigation into the source of the Police uniform and the authority behind it.
The statement emphasized that unauthorized use of Police uniforms, insignia, or equipment is a criminal offense under Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code, subject to penalties.
While acknowledging the creativity of young content creators, the Force warned against the misuse of Police symbols, stating that such actions undermine the integrity of the organization and will not be tolerated.
