Police officer shoots colleague accidentally during hunger protest in Katsina

A police operation to control protesters in Katsina State took an unexpected turn when an officer was accidentally shot by his colleagues.

This incident occurred on Friday during the second day of demonstrations against poor governance, economic difficulties, and food shortages.

According to eyewitnesses, the situation became chaotic when police began firing at the protesters. In the confusion, one of the officers was hit by friendly fire. Bystanders reported seeing the wounded policeman on the ground, bleeding and surrounded by onlookers.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident or the condition of the injured officer.
