Rite Foods Limited, under its Rite Recycle initiative, in collaboration with icreate, has announced the ‘iCreate Club Programme,’ an initiative campaign designed to educate children on the importance of recycling and its role in building a more sustainable world.

According to a statement from the firm, the campaign would engage students across public and private schools in Lagos through a two-pronged approach.

It added that a book reading tour would span 50 public schools, using a specially-written Rite Foods storybook, titled ‘Don’t Waste Your Waste’, to introduce the concept of recycling to young minds.

It also stated that students would also be challenged to transform used Rite Sausage Roll wrappers and cartons into innovative STEAM-based creations, fostering their creativity and environmental awareness.

According to the firm, finalists from participating schools will showcase their creations at a grand finale to be held in Lagos on July 6, 2024.

It declared that the grand finale would feature an exhibition of the finalists’ work, judged by seasoned professionals.

“The initiative emphasises the significance of recycling in preserving the planet, inspiring responsible waste management practices from a young age.

“It encourages students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to their recycling projects while promoting collaboration between schools, students, and the community,” it remarked.

According to a report by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, the recycling economy in Lagos State alone generated approximately N18bn as of 2021.
