Sim Fubara to swear in newly elected LGA Chairmen

 

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will swear in the newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas today at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Fubara declares Thursday, Friday public holidays

The Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission conducted elections at the grassroots level, with the Action People’s Party securing 22 chairmanship positions out of 23.

The results for Etche Local Government Area were initially suspended but were later announced, with Uzodinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance declared the winner.

Adolphus Enebeli, the RSIEC chairman, praised the patriotism of residents who turned out to vote, describing the election as free, fair, and credible despite some challenges.

Members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, chairmen of state independent electoral bodies, and members of the Nigerian Bar Association observed the election.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place today at 4:00 pm at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt. Each newly elected chairman can bring one guest and must be seated by 3:30 pm.
