In a thrilling finale at the 2024 Paris Games, Spain defeated France 5-3 in extra time to claim their first men’s soccer Olympic gold medal since 1992.

France took an early lead with Enzo Millot’s 11th-minute goal, but Spain responded with three goals in ten minutes, including two from Fermín López and a free kick by Álex Baena.

France staged a dramatic comeback, equalizing 3-3 with a penalty kick from Jean-Philippe Mateta in stoppage time.

However, substitute Sergio Camello scored twice in extra time to secure Spain’s victory.

This triumph marks Spain’s first Olympic gold in men’s soccer since 1992, while France earns their first Olympic medal in the tournament in 40 years.
