Sweden and Canada have decided to resume funding for UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, following a pause by 16 countries over allegations of UNRWA staff involvement in a Hamas attack

Sweden plans to send an initial payment of 200 million kronor, with a total allocation of 400 million kronor for 2024.
Canada’s decision to restart funding acknowledges the ongoing investigative process.
The move comes amid a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where a quarter of the population is at risk of famine.
UNRWA, a vital agency in Gaza, provides essential services, and other nations are also contributing to its funding.
