A teacher is facing charges after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old female student.
The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, USA, arrested 27-year-old Richard Shane Miller on three counts of Lewd & Lascivious Battery on a victim 12-15 years of age.
The girl told a detective that she and Miller engaged in a romantic relationship during the current school year and had up to three sexual encounters, the sheriff’s office says.
He is currently in jail with bond set at $150,000.
The Okeechobee County School District says it learned of the incident Wednesday and immediately turned it over to police. They are cooperating with law enforcement anyway they can, they say.
Miller is still a teacher with the district, they say. It remains unclear if he is on leave.
